So I'm thinking of changing the Forum Host, this is because this version is VERY tedious. Like seriously, I'll change 1 colour and the full layout will go crazy.

Do you guys think that this will be a good idea? And does anyone have any reccommendations for a Forum Host website?

Ps. the mods will still be the same, just incase you're wondering! Very Happy

Changing hosts will be a lot of work - chances are, a lot of the members here won't switch over, even if you tell them we're moving. We'll have to re-add every single topic we've already created... Just a lot of work to switch things over. I personally think the layout of this forum is fine the way it is. But, it's totally up to you.

If you are really set on switching, I'd suggest webs.com. I use webs for EVERYTHING! It's free, and you can edit in html mode or use premade templates. I always use html as it's much easier to edit and I have programs that I use to generate codes and what not. So, I could always help you out with that.

Webs.com has an option so you can add a forum much like this, but you can also have regular web pages, too, if you wanted to expand in that way. Unfortunately, the free version only allows you to have 10 pages, but if you mostly use the forum, than that shouldn't be a problem. And, I have a feeling, whether you use regular templates or html, editing will be much easier than here.

Those are my personal opinions and suggestions, anyways. If you need any help at all, let me know! Smile

If we were to move to webs then we could also be a fansite, which could be quite a good idea.

Thanks for your lovely suggestions. After thinking about it though I have decided I'm going to stick with this forum. This is because its already set up, the links have been assigned to signatures and other things, and we already have members here and some wont want to switch over.

About the fansite stuff, I can actually already create singular pages on this forum. I'm very experienced in HTML and website design so I'll add a fansite or something in the future. Just need to get my college work sorted first!

This leads me to another thing, do you guys think we could create a small website about TS3. Like careers, sims, motives, moodlets. Kind of like a walkthrough?

I have always wanted to do something like this, but I'll need your opinions. I'd also need a lot of writers to write about it cause it would take me forever. And plus, I'd need to learn and research a lot!

What are your thoughts? Smile

A walkthrough type page would certainly bring more website traffic. I could imagine that beign quite a good idea Smile

It would, It would be fun and certainly very rewarding. The amount of traffic that we get would be great as well.

Would you be happy to do some writing for it?

I'm not sure if I should attach the website to the forums, or start a fresh on Webs.com though, what do you think? I could connect the forums to the Webs site with a hyperlink. Or I could connect it to the forums. I think the .forummotion would put people off though, .webs isn't as bad.

I would be happy with writing a few articles Smile

I think having a .webs.com would be better than a .forumotion.com for the walkthrough/welcome pages with the direct link to the forums on the navigation bar Smile

That would be great, KingJerry!

I agree webs.com would be the best website to start it on. I’ll start writing some notes/topics and stuff then. If you have any ideas please suggest them! Smile

We could have a page for 'how to use create a style' with pictures and info on how to use it (eyedropping tool, copying design from one piece of furniture/clothing to another, favouriting).

I'm actually not so sure about the idea with having a whole walk through of the game and what not, only because there are a lot of sites that already do those kinds of things. We'd need something different to make our site stand out from the others.

I know a couple weeks ago, we were talking about the backstories of all the premade families in sims 1-3 - maybe we could do something about this? I'm sure there are other players, like myself, that know nothing about their "lives".

I do like the idea of writing little articles and such, though. Maybe, instead of making part of the site dedicated for a "walk through" per say, we could have some of the admins (maybe other players later down the road, but I don't think we should get too many players involved as it will get to be a bit much) maybe write something like blogs. Each person could have a different category - someone could write something about building (all the controls, etc) creating sims (all those controls, etc) and other things that would be included in something like a walk through. That way, you still have the idea of a walk through, but it could be more interactive, and we could incooperate (I'm too lazy to figure out the right word here lol) some of our own creations, and what not, into these blogs. Something like that.

I don't know. Just some ideas. But, I do think we need to do something different to make us stand out more. SU is a great start and I've been getting a lot of feedback with that, so that should be a good start at least.

So. I don't know. If I think of anything else, I'll be sure to post. But, that's my two cents anyways

Something differnet sounds way better than a simple walkthough. You've given me the idea to do a kind of tutorial website. So there's a list of tutorials rather than everything from scratch.

I think this idea would be better becuase most people already know the basic walkthrough stuff, so they will be willing to read a tutorial to learn more about simming or building or whatever.

So kind of like articles/tutorial posts- I think its a great idea!

Also I'm glad you've set up SU, I was going to comment on it but I didn't want to ruin the post haha. Glad its going well though.
