Refurbishment Ideas

Hello everyone!

This information will probably be useful to you if you are a common user of the forums. As some of you may know, I’m graduating high school this week which means I will have a lot of free time on my hands. I’d like to use this time to update the forums and to try and get more people involved!

I’d love if you could tell me any ideas, improvements or updates that you would like to see happen on Where’s Bella.

I cant promise that everything suggested will happen, but there is a good chance that it will!

Maybe merging/removing sections. Look at this:
Showcase
WIP (Work In Progress)
WCIF (Where Can I Find)
Storytellers
Worlds
Magazines
Great Creators (Recommended by you!)
Blogs
Sim University
Tutorials
Machinima

Perhaps:
Tutorials and Sim University merge?
Do we still need Showcase and Work in Progress due to the other other sections?
WCIF and Great Creators could possibly merge
Do we need Blogs if we have Storytellers vice versa?

That's all I can think of just now

I keep saying this every time I come on, but then I realize that I don't think they can really be merged, for a few reasons.
As far as tutorials and sim university - SU really requires it's own area in the forums - just look at all that's already there, plus individual spaces for each individual class, and spaces inside those for lessons, assignments, etc. Yes, it's like a tutorial, but in a more creative way where people can practice what they do and get feedback. Plus, not necessarily everything will be covered - there are tons of tutorials out there that we may not cover in classes, and I also believe the tutorial section is great for those who are good at teaching themselves. So, while they are similar, there are differences, and I strongly feel they should be kept separate because of these differences.

As far as the WIP, I agree - It seems redundant to me to have both. You can easily show what you're working on in the showcase area since it is being "showcased".
If someone really wants to have a separate thread for what they're working on, I don't see anything wrong with them making this in the showcase category. And if they want a thread for completed things, they can do that as well. I don't even think WIP gets used often, anyways. Though, merging could be a good idea, too, that way they are still separate. I don't know. I personally don't see much use in WIP and I don't think I really use it. Some people may like it, though, so merging could work, at least to clear up some space so there's not so much.

I don't really think WCIF is necessary at all. Again, it seems redundant to me. If someone needs help finding something, they can easily just post in the question area or sims area. Depends on what they're looking for, too. Merging could work, but what if they're looking for info on purchasing the next ep or something like that? Not really a "showcase" appropriate area. I think we would want to keep those kinds of questions open, so nothing is necessarily "off topic" or "in the wrong spot." Maybe merging it with a help category? I'm not looking at the page right now, so I don't remember exactly what's there off the top of my head. But, I do know there are a few random help areas floating around. Maybe all of these can be put into one big "help" section. Help: Tutorials. Creative Questions. Gameplay questions. Technical questions. (etc - just an idea of how that could be set up, that way it's all in one easy to find area and not scattered throughout).

I personally consider blogs and storytellers very different. I like to put my sim-fiction writing in the story teller area, and "blogs" in the blog area. Things I consider blogs would be, for example, my breeding blog. It's not a story, but more of a "thing" I do in my game. Almost like my own game inside the game - a mini game, if you will. Blogs could even be more personal, for players who want a space to just come in and talk about the different things they're doing in their own game. Maybe they don't have lots they want to show off or stories they're doing, but still want a chance to share what they do in their game and have something to talk about with others. I think the blog area is perfect for something like that.


Anyways. Those are my opinions. I do agree with some mergers and deletions, so, some things to consider. I've been up for almost a full 24 hours, so I'll do my own little look through and see if I have any other ideas tomorrow.
